So what are ten extremely random things that I want the world to know? (Although in essence, I might be the only person who actually read my own blogs).
1. I’ve always wanted to be in a rock band. That’s not unique, but that was me. I dont have to be a big time rocker, just get to play in joints and make it my way of making a living. That didn’t happen. but yes, my fiends and I were able to form a short lived alternative cover band. ..2. I like to write songs. Overtime, I think that my songwriting has been improving. Or maybe not. Well my friends think my songs are cool… And yes, I have this fantasy of selling my compositions.
3. I have a thing for trains. Not the ordinary, noisy, crowded trains. But the airconditioned ones with berth/sleepers. When I would travel long distance, I’d take the train whenever possible. I get to interact with other passengers, sleep through the rest of the trip, and do some introspection along the way… plus I can walk up and down the train. And my favorite hang-out… the cafeteria. Once an American passenger gave me a novel that he just finished reading because he noticed that the author of the book I was reading was the same author of the book that he just read. The author Jonathan Kellerman.
4. I once got lost as a child. Around 5 or 6 years old, I cant recall. My mom and I were at a theater. She said she’d just go out to buy snacks for me. (Wonder why she didn’t buy before we went in.) After just a short while, I went to follow her. What was I thinking? Nothing, I was a kid… I got lost and ended up at a police station. I always smile when I remember that. And don’t judge my mom. She was a great mom. I was nuts!
5. I have a friend [my best friend] that I rarely [if ever] call by name. Or I have a friend who rarely calls me by my name. Either way, they're the same. We both had passion for traveling, dream of seeing the world, learning languages, studying cultures, food… and movies! We started out as addressing each other buddy like any other friends would. Then I cut it short with Budz (with the capital B, much like a personal noun) whenever I texted or emailed him. Eventually, it became like our common name. We still call each other with that name… or at least I still do.
6. I have two degrees. One was in Electrical Engineering which was pretty ironic because I hated Math. (I think I still do.) It was my dad’s choice for me. And that time there wasn’t too many courses to choose from in my small city. I complied because I also like circuits. I started quite well but I got sidetracked by something else… I gave myself another chance (actually my Dad, he’s a good dad you see) so I took Physical Therapy. I loved it. I worked so hard, I can really call it my own… but im now working as ESL teacher. How weird is that?
7. Yes, very bad at Math. Or just plain lazy... In primary school I was the only one who found it difficult to multiply higher numbers. I was just too lazy to memorize the multiplication table. I do mathematical operations with a calculator now… It’s not that I cant, im just too lazy to use my brain when it comes to mathematical operations. And all cellphones now are equipped with calculators!!!
8. I used to dance really well. Like, in the past I could audition to be a professional dancer. Everyone in the family actually. My older brother joined and won a lot of dance contests. So were my sisters. I could do hip hop moves easily before. Now that I don’t watch music video channels anymore, it has faded. Plus my joints are not as mobile as before hahaha.
9. My eyes are photosensitive. They’re like chlorophyll, my friend told me. They hurt easily when exposed to bright light leaving me with migraine-like headache. They also hurt if I fall asleep with the lights on… If I use the computer for long period, I would wear shades.
10. I don’t like durian. I might be of one the few Asians who dont like it. One time my Singaporean friend and I were walking along the streets of Chiang Mai (Thailand). She blurted, “let’s go for a durian.” So I told her I don’t eat the stuff. She snapped at me and said “What kind of Asian are you?” And no, it’s not the smell that I hate. It’s the taste. And its slimy texture...
